HARTSVILLE - Eula M. Benjamin, 77, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005 at her residence after an illness.

Born in Springhope, N.C., Mrs. Benjamin was a daughter of the late Herman and Rebecca Anderson Smith, and was the widow of Elder Nero Benjamin. She was educated in the public schools of Nash County, N.C., and was a member of Household of Faith Holiness Church, Cheraw.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia (James) Clark and Vanessa (Donald) Jackson all of Hartsville; three sons, Leroy (Sheila) Benjamin and Richard (Juanita) Benjamin all of Hartsville, and Ronald (Diane) Benjamin of Matthews, N.C.; three sisters, Doretha Person of Hartsville, Carrie Smith and Virginia Falcon both of Baltimore, Mary.; two brothers, Herman Smith Jr. and Dennie Lee Smith of Baltimore; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grand-children.

Sadie Williamson Campbell
MORVEN, N.C. - Sadie Williamson Campbell, 88, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 in Calvert County Nursing Center in Maryland.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16 from the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home, Wadesboro, N.C., with the Rev. Yvonne Hechler officiating. Burial followed in Morven Cemetery.

Born in Anson County, N.C., Mrs. Campbell was a daughter of the late William Noah and Florence Pauline Trexler Williamson. She was a retired registered nurse and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Marlboro Town Chapter in Upper Marlboro County, Mary., under the ancestry of Benjamin Buchanan.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Allen Campbell Sr.; two sons, Robert Allen Campbell Jr. of Lewes, Del., and E. Scott Campbell of La Plata, Mary.; nine brothers and sisters, Steele Williamson, Lester Williamson and Patricia Baldis all of Morven, Duckie L. Williamson and Julia Moore both of Wadesboro, Mary Alice Shook of Hendersonville, N.C., Pauline (Mike) Williamson of Blythewood, Harvey Williams of Ft. Washington, Mary., and Barbara Williamson of Chesterfield; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grand-children.
She was preceded in death by a son, William Ladd Campbell, who died during the Vietnam War.

Born in Newberry County, Mrs. Cooper was a daughter of James and Lillie Henderson Glasgow. She was an L.P.N.

James Arthur 'Art' Davis
CHERAW - James Arthur 'Art' Davis, 67, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005 in Columbia.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 from Grooms Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Rogers officiating.
Born in Chesterfield County, Mr. Davis was a son of the late Curtis Lee Davis Sr. and Flora Sellers Davis. He lived most of his life in New Jersey, returning to Cheraw in 1994 after retiring from his job as a machinist.
Surviving are his mother of the home; four sisters, Bessie Davis of Merien, Conn., Gloria (Bobby Ray) Merriman of Gastonia, N.C., and Flora D. Brayboy and Joann Davis of Cheraw; two brothers, Curtis Lee (Katie) Davis of Plymouth, N.C., and George (Darlene) Davis of Cheraw; and a number of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Florence Smith, Mary Davis and Margaret Melton; and three brothers, Ulysses Davis, Michael Davis and Jerome Davis.

Truesdale Douglas
DARLINGTON - Truesdale Douglas, 76, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 in a Florence hospital.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14 from the chapel of Belk Funeral Home with the Rev. Ted Windham officiating. Burial followed in Darlington Memory Gardens.
Born in Chesterfield County, Mr. Douglas was a son of the late Ben T. and Dollie Warren Douglas. He served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and had retired from Darlington Veneer Company. Mr. Douglas was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Shoemake Douglas of Darlington; a son, Charles Eddie (Debbie) Douglas of Darlington; two daughters, Wanda (Paul) Gates of Darlington, and Loretta (Charles) Davis of Ruby; five grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Mr. Douglas was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Douglas.

CHERAW - Lena Mae Atkinson Dixon, 77, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2005.

Born in Darlington County, Mrs. Dixon was a daughter of the late Joe and Rosie Beasley Atkinson. She was a home-maker.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, George Dixon of Cheraw; four sons, George (Ann) Dixon Jr. of Cassatt, William (Mary) Dixon and Marion (Jenny) Dixon all of Cheraw, and Jimmy Dixon of El Paso, Texas; a daughter, Katherine Hammonds of Pageland; three sisters, Myrtle Gainey of Bishopville, Lucille Griggs of Hartsville, and Janie Brock of Chesterfield; four brothers, Joe Atkinson, Doc Atkinson, Hayward Atkinson and Rufus Atkinson all of Hartsville; 19 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Born in Bennettsville, Mrs. English was a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Fannie Caroline Lyons Allen, and the widow of Robert English. She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Mrs. English had retired from Cheraw Primary School where she worked in food service.
Surviving are a son, Calvin Melton of Cheraw; two daughters, Linda M. Smith and Faye Wallace of Cheraw; a brother, Vernon Allen of Greensboro, N.C.; a sister, Margaret Pegues of Cheraw; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

McKever 'Mack' Hamilton
CHESTERFIELD - McKever "Mack" Hamilton, 76, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005.
A funeral service was held at noon Saturday, Feb. 12 from Flemming Funeral Home Chapel, Chesterfield. Burial followed in Chesterfield Community Cemetery.
Born in Chesterfield, Mr. Hamilton was a son of the late Oscar and Essie Hamilton, and the widow of Artist Pierce Hamilton. He was educated in the public schools of Chester-field. After moving to Norfolk, Va., Mr. Hamilton enlisted in the United States Army. After discharge, he became a Merchant Marine and worked in that position until he retired. Mr. Hamilton was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are a brother, Lonnie (Bonnie) Hamilton of Chester-field; eight sisters, Cindy Hamilton and Kanetha Hamilton of Norfolk, Ruby Chapman and Vernisha Boyd of Charlotte, N.C., Bettie Marriman of Chesterfield, Myrtle Roberts of Atlanta, Ga., Elease (Robert) Jones of Baltimore, Mary., and Louise (Clyde) McMullen of San Diego, Calif.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

William Lee Isgett
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - William Lee Isgett, 77, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005 at the Laurels of Greentree Ridge following a period of declining health.
A funeral services was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16 from the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Eddie Morgan and the Rev. Donna Painter officiating. Burial will be in the Lewis Memorial Park.

A native of Cheraw, Mr. Isgett was a son of the late Oscar Lee and Ada Irene Hall Isgett, and had resided in Asheville since 1961. He was the former owner of Walls and Marshall Fuel Oil Company and Isgett Distributors. Mr. Isgett was a member of First Baptist Church of Asheville and a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He was a former member of the Asheville Kiwanis Club and the National Accountants Association.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Marguerite Creech Isgett of the home; a daughter, Sharon (Patrick) McMurry of Arden, N.C.; two sons, Stephen (Tammie) Isgett of Fletcher, N.C., and Scott Isgett of Taylors; a sister, Frances (William) Matheson of Asheville; a brother, Perry Isgett of Cheraw; four grandsons, Tyler Isgett, Timmie Isgett, Noah McMurry and Thomas Isgett; a niece; and four nephews.

Born in Chesterfield County, Mrs. Kimrey was a daughter of the late Joseph Duncan and Ida quick Graham. She was a faithful member of Westside Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and Youth Leader. She also held various other offices in the church for many years.
Surviving are two daughters, Patsy K. Driggers of Wallace, and Elaine K. Young of Florence; three grandchildren, Thomas Young and Tammy Gregory of Wallace, and Myra Levine of Murrells Inlet; and four great-grandchildren.

Born in Reed City, Mrs. Lenahan was a daughter of Edward and Deanna Lott Snider. She was a 1996 graduate of the College of Charleston. After returning to Reed City, Mrs. Lenahan taught pre-school with Mid Michigan Community Action Agency in Evant, Mich.
Surviving are her husband, Lawrence "Luke" Lenahan; her mother of Reed City; and a brother, James Snider of Boston, Mass.

A son of Peggy Moore Luther and the late A.C. "Sonny" Luther, Mr. Luther was a 1972 graduate of Spring Valley High School. He worked as plant manager for Carolina Ceramics in Columbia until moving to Cheraw where he worked as plant manager with Palmetto Brick.
Surviving are his wife, Belinda "Bunny" Luther of the home; three sons, Jason Blaine, Christopher Ryan and William Michael of Cheraw; his stepmother; two sisters; a brother; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Mr. McCaskill was a son of James Ruby Lee McCaskill. He attended Chester-field County public schools and Salem United Methodist Church, Pageland. Mr. McCaskill was formerly employed with Tucker Lumber Company. He was formally married to Ruth Merritt.

Born in Florence, Mr. Perry was a son of Dr. William Louis Perry and Ruth Kirven Perry. He attended Wofford College, Mars Hill College and the University of South Carolina, and was a retired Building Contractor. Mr. Perry was a former member of the South Carolina National Guard.
Surviving are parents of Chesterfield; a brother, William Kirven Perry of Lumberton, N.C.; two sisters, Arden Perry Fields of Clemson, and Ruth Perry Higson of Conway; six nieces and nephews, Bill Perry, English Perry Griggs, Arden McCullough Fields, Perry Fields, Casey Higson and Lane Higson; and three great-nephews, Landon Perry, Camden Griggs and Collin Griggs.

Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Lester Richardson of Brighton Gardens; a daughter, Judith Strickland Minter of Martinsville, Va.; a son, Dennis L. (Temple) Richarson of Norfolk; four grandchildren, Lynn (John) Anderson of Greensboro, N.C., Drew (Kerry) Richardson of Norfolk, Carrie E. Richardson of Raleigh, N.C., and David H. Richardson of Norfolk; and two great-grandchildren, Katelyn Richardson and Ethan Richardson of Norfolk.

Surviving are his father of Lakeland, Fla.; and a brother, James Harry Robbins Jr. of Charleston.

Richard M. 'Dick' Swink
COLUMBIA -Capt. Richard M. "Dick" Swink, USMC (Ret.), 69, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005.

A son of the late Monroe Claud and Annie Richards Swink of Cheraw, Capt. Swink served 21 years in the United States Marine Corps, and was a life member of the Marine Corp League Palmetto Marines Detachment in Columbia. The highest rank he held was Captain. Capt. Swink received the Department of Defense Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Service and Campaign Medals for Vietnam. He was retired from the Department of Social Services after 22 years
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Dolores J. Swink; two sons, Richard M. "Rick" (Teresa) Swink Jr. of Chapin, and James W. "Jim" (Greta) Swink of Cayce; a daughter, Kathy (Tray) Coker of Lexington; six grandchildren,
Brittany Swink, Lauren Swink, Bobby Coker, Maggie Coker, Mackenzie Swink and Will Swink; a sister, Barbara (Raymond) Babb of Cheraw; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Kaye Swink.

Born in Richmond County, N.C., Mrs. Watson was a daughter of the late E.B. and Rachel Steen Cumber. She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church where she was pianist for many years.
Surviving are her husband, Jack Watson of the home; three daughters, Kim McPherson and Jackie Clark both of Rockingham, N.C., and Ann Watson of Hoffman, N.C.; two sons, Scott Watson of Holden Beach, N.C., and Jamie Watson of Hamlet; three sisters, Margaret Hatcher of Wallace, Naomi Outlaw of Rockingham, and Inez smith of York; two brothers, J.B. Cumber of Hartsville, and Perry Cumber of Rockingham; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Phillips Patrick Watson; a brother, Ed Cumber; and two sisters, Hazel Elkins and Lee English.

Everette D. Campbell
CHESTERFIELD - Everette D. Camp-bell, 75, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005.
A funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21 from St. Paul United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the Chesterfield Cemetery.
Born in Chesterfield, Mr. Campbell was a son of Willie Duncan Campbell and Mary Etta Rayfield Campbell. He was a Deputy with the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Department for the past 30 years. Mr. Campbell was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, was a member of American Legion Post 74, a member of Chesterfield Masonic Lodge 220 and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

She was a past-president of the American Legion Auxiliary, a charter member of New Covenant Baptist Church, and was instrumental in the founding and nurturing of New Covenant Christian School.

Born in Cheraw, Mr. Sellers was a son of the late Lloyd and Savannah Sellers. He was a 1983 graduate of Cheraw High School. Mr. Sellers served in the National Guard for six years. After serving with the National Guard, he returned to Cheraw and was employed with several jobs. He was a carpenter.

Born in Chesterfield County, Mr. Hough was a son of the late Hollis Benjamine and Arlevia Blackwell Hough, and was the widower of Mae Nora Miller Hough. He attended Shannon Training School, Jefferson. Mr Hough was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Pageland, where he sang with the Men’s Choir and served as an Usher. He was a Member of Dawn of Light Lodge 210. In his younger years, Mr. Hough sang with the Silver Bells Quartet.
Surviving are three sons, James Edward (Bobbie Jean) Hough and David Brennion (Paulette) Hough of Jefferson, and Russell (Debbie) Hough of Pageland; 11 grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Vermil Hough of Jefferson, Earnestine Cobb of Columbus, Ga. Armanda Jackson, Arlevia Brunfield and Lethia Sellers of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a brother, James B. Hough of Pageland; two brothers-in-law; and a number of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by three infant children; and five sisters, Elease Newman, Virgie Louallen, Joe Elaine McManus, Collera Catherine Louallen and Evangeline Myers.

Born in Darlington County, Mrs. Hudley was a daughter of the late Toney and Lula Mae Johnson Moses, and was the widow of James Hudley. She was a graduate of Rosenwald High School and a member of New Zion Baptist Church. Mrs. Hudley was employed with the Darlington County School District until she retried.
Surviving are three daughters, Annie (Lonnie) Jett of Jamaica Estates, N.Y., Addie (Willie) Harrington of Society Hill, and Billie (Kevin) Johnson of St. Louis, Mo.; A son, James B (Marie) Hudley of Hampton, Va.; eight granddaughters Stephanie (Rodney) Bolden, Latasha (James) Sellers, Shonte (Kelvin) Polk, Jennifer Jett, Tyesha Harrington, Tiffaney Hudley, Allison Jett and Ashley Jett; six grandsons, James C. Born in Chesterfield County, Mr. West was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin West and Millur Funderburk West. He was retired from the S.C. Department of Transportation. Mr. West received the Purple Heart from wounds received as a United States Marine in the battle of Guadalcanal during World War II. He was a member of the VFW and DAV and a Mason with the Camp Creek Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Ruth West of the home; a son, Johnnie Lenson (Kathy) West Jr.; three daughters, Patricia "Pat" West (Ken) Vick, Susan "Susie" West (Billy) Jenkins and Carol West (David) Gainer all of Lancaster; a sister, Athalee Noe of Lancaster; 15 grandchildren: 27 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was prededed in death by a son, Luther Reed Roach; a grandson, Kenneth E. Scott; two brothers, Jack West and Walter "Pete" West; and two sisters, Della West Ringstaff and Alma West.

Born in Chesterfield, "Rabbit," as she was called by her family, was a daughter of Nathan and Lena Douglas Lowe, Jr. She graduated from Cheraw High School, attended Claflin College, Orangeburg, and graduated from Florida Community College in Jack-sonville, Fla. She served Fire of Word Christian Center in Jacksonville as secretary, coordinator of the praise and dance team, and coordinator of the youth summer camp.
Surviving are her husband James Bonaparte; two daughters, Emon and Taquashia; her parents; a sister, Contina Lowe; Harold "Pat" Hudley who was like a brother; a maternal grandfather, James E. "Dime" Douglas; and many other relatives and friends.

C. and was an active member of Macedonia New Life Church. She was president of the T. C. Hammond Memorial Club, the Burton Cameron Sunday School Class, member of Prayer and Bible Study an the Whithker Mill Senior Club with the parks and Recreation Department of Raleigh, N.C.
Surviving are a godson, George Cameron and many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as her church family and friends.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two brothers, George and Preston Mungo; and two sisters, Ola M. Huntley and Callie M. Kirkland.

Born in Olanta, Mrs. Edwards was a daughter of the late Johnson Hagood Carraway and Effie Jane Thompson Carraway. Having lived the last seven years at Sandpiper Retirement Village, in Mt. Pleasant, she previously made her home in Cheraw with her late husband, James O. "Buddy" Edwards Jr., for more than 50 years. Mrs. Edwards, along with her late husband, owned and operated Edwards Sales Company, Inc., in Cheraw for many years. Mrs. Edwards was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, and was a charter member of the Fred Harris Sunday School Class.
Surviving are two sons, James O. (Barbara T.) Edwards III of North Augusta, and Michael C. (Kathy H.) Edwards of Columbia; a daughter, Jayne E. (Stephen J.) Harry of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Grace Carraway Campbell of Sumter, and Frankie Carraway Britton of Manning.

Mrs. Hart retired from Southern Bell Telephone after 42 years and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was treasurer for C.W.A., RMC Local 3603.

Born in Queens, N. Y., Mr. Houser was the son of the late Joel B. and Jennie Escassie Houser. He was a U. S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He worked as a biomedical technician for the VA hospital and Chesterfield General Hospital. Mr. Houser was a member of Westside Baptist Church and an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia M. Houser of Cheraw; seven children, Glenn T. Houser of Eglin AFB, Fla., Kristin D. Houser of Cheraw, Dorian S. Houser of Santee, Ca., Andy Long of North Augusta, S. C., Don Long and Eugene Long of Geo., Denise Alogna of Pocomoke, Mary.; a sister, Jean Barry of Blooming Grove, N. Y.; and eight grandchildren.

Born in Lancaster, Mr. Parker was a son of the late Barney Charles and Evelyn Belvin Parker. He was previously employed with the Hartsville Cotton Mill and Sonoco Products Co. Mr. Parker worked with Danny Ray Lynch and Bucky Lynch in the car business until his retirement.
Surviving are a son, Charles (Brenda) Parker of Hartsville; daughters, Dianne (Pedro) Hall of Hartsville, and Crystal (J.B.) Jones of Darlington; four sisters, Joyce Banks of Memphis, Tenn., and Drucilla Clemenger, Amanda Caddell and Lourine Davis all of Hartsville; five brothers, Barney Parker, Jerald Parker and Frank Parker all of Hartsville, and Joe Caddell and Bob Caddell of McBee; seven grandchildren, April Johnson, Ramey Hall, Nicole Loving, Chad James, Christy Weatherford, Charles James Parker and Sherry Spraggins; nine great-grandchildren; the mother of his children, Ruby McElveen Parker of Hartsville; and his companion, Sybil Frances Garland Kelly of Hartsville.

Born in Geary County, Kan., Mr. DeFord was a son of Mary Lynn DeFord and Rodney and Kathleen DeFord. He was a veteran of the United States Army, Special Forces, Airborne-/Assault. Mr. DeFord received the Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Certificate of Training Award and many other awards. He loved watching movies with his family on Sundays and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed working on his 1969 Cadillac Deville, spending time with his family and playing with the pups. He smiled 365 days a year and 366 if it was leap year.
Surviving are his wife, Chaesam Pak DeFord of the home; his mother of Oakland, Calif.; his father of Appleton, Wis.; two sons, Derek DeFord and David DeFord of Cheraw; two brothers, Dominick DeFord of San Jose, Calif., and Anthony DeFord of Milwaukee, Wis.; two sisters, Paulette Garce and Yvette Navarez of San Jose; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. McClain studied nursing at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, and later received her certification in horticulture through Home Depot in Atlanta.
Surviving are her husband, Julian McClain of the home; a daughter, Patricia (Anthony) Smith of Columbia; three brothers, Leo Dixon and Robert (Edith) Dixon of Cheraw, and Ulee Dixon of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Mildred Dixon and Annie Bell (Paul) McQueen of Cheraw; her mother-in-law, Virginia Hall of Atlanta; her father-in-law, Julian (Mildred) McClain Sr. of Tacoma, Wash.; and many other family and friends.

Allen Q. McManus
Allen Q McManus,98, died Sunday, June 26, 2005 at Liberty Nursing Home, Charlotte, N.C.

Born in Pageland, Mr. McManus was a son of the late William and Sarah Q McManus, and was the widower of Mae Lee McManus. Early in life, he joined Flint Ridge Baptist Church in Pageland where he remained a member until his death. Mr. McManus was a member of the Deacon Board, Vocal Choir and was a Sunday School Teacher. As a member of the Oak Hill Masonic Lodge 258, he reached the top as a 33rd degree Mason and was a member of the Eastern Star. Mr. McManus worked as a truck driver for Eckerd Drugs for 20 years and retired at age 65.
Surviving are four sons, Ernest (Thelma) McManus, Ben Frank (Nellie) McManus and Lester (Virginia) McManus all of Charlotte, and Allen (Sharon) McManus Jr. of Southfield, Mich.; two daughters, Louise Gregory of Charlotte, and Shirley (Willie) Sands of Stone Mountain, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Gladys McManus of Charlotte; a sister-in-law, Brite Threatt of Charlotte; 23 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Hazel McManus and Nathaniel McManus, and an infant daughter.

Ms. Watson was a daughter of the late David and Mary P. Robinson. She attended Word of Life Fellowship Church, Cheraw, and Church of God of Prophecy, Morven, N. C. At an early age she took care of her younger sisters and brothers and reared five generations of relatives.
Surviving are eight sisters, Maggaline (Evans) Brown, Bessie (Enrique) Salinas and Mazella (Rommie) Watson all of Charlotte, N. C., Daisy Love of Morven, and Pauline Henry, Mary Jean

PAGELAND - Lillie Viola Brewer Atkinson, 100, died Wednesday, July 6, 2005.
A funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 10 from Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joseph Frazier officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Born in Pageland, Mrs. Atkinson was a daughter of Joseph and Emma Covington Brewer. She attended the local schools and graduated from Butler High School in Hartsville under the tutelage of her brother, Henry C. Brewer. As a young woman she moved to New York City where she married William McKinley Atkinson. She worked as a teacher's aide in the New York City public school system and retired in 1975. Mrs. Atkinson and her husband "Mack" moved to Pageland in 1976. There, she continued to nurture her second born son and became a member of the CHESCO Board. She gave of her time and energy to serve the needs of persons with disabilities.
Mrs. Atkinson was always active in the church. She was a member of St. Mark's Methodist Church in New York City and later Brooks Memorial
Methodist Church in Queens. In Pageland, Mrs. Atkinson returned to the church of her youth, Wesley Chapel United Methodist. She was a member of United Methodist Women, secretary of the Sunday School and was active in other organizations.
Surviving are a son, William M. Atkinson II of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Patricia A. (George Williams) Atkinson of So. Setauket, N.Y.; a sister, Thelma Murphy of Pageland; two granddaughters, Kim L. Atkinson of Columbia, Mary., and LeVanna Atkinson-Williams of So. Setauket; a great-granddaughter, Dayce Atkinson-Dorsey of Columbia, Mary.; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Judson Cook Gregory, 81, died Friday, July 8, 2005 at his residence.

Born in Kershaw, Mr. Gregory was a son of the late Theron and Anne Pittman Gregory. He graduated with the class of 1936 from the University of South Carolina where he earned a degree in physics. Mr. Gregory's first profession was as an educator, and he served as principal at several high schools in the South Carolina Educational System during the 1930's and early 1940's. While acting as principal in Aynor, he met a teacher named Frances Caston, to whom he was married for 64 years.
Mr. Gregory taught radar to the United States Air Force for five years in Boca Raton, Fla. as his contribution to the war effort during World War II. Professionally, his most fulfilling period was his 28-year tenure as an engineer with WBTV. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Delray Beach, Fla.
Surviving are his wife, Connie Frances Caston Gregory; a sister, Mary Gregory Ellis of Winter Garden, Fla.; his brothers, Robert (Ann) Gregory of Columbia, Elbert (Louise) Gregory of Kershaw, Theron (Lillian) Gregory of Kershaw, and Herbert (Carmen) Gregory of Fresno, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Gregory, and a sister, Natalie Gregory Baker.

(Jackie) Griggs of Florence; three daughters, Laura (Mike) Burns of Douglas, Ga., Nancy (Steve) Chorney of Greenville, and Jane Stephens of Darlington; a brother, Bruce Johnson of Hartsville; eight granddaughters, Jennifer Newton, Ashley Stevens, Julie Shealy, Jessica Griggs, Whitney Anderson, Leslie Anderson, Summer O'Neal, Chapell O'Neal; and three great-grandchildren, Fifth Newton, Davis Newton and Sullivan Shealy.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Johnson and Tom Johnson, and a sister, Ray Skipper.

Born in Chesterfield County, Mr. McCaskill was a son of the late Neil Franklin and Eva Gardner McCaskill. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church. Mr. McCaskill was a dual member of McBee Masonic Lodge 313, McBee, and Kershaw Masonic Lodge 29 in Camden. He held honorary memberships in many lodges throughout South Carolina. Mr. McCaskill was proficient as a first-degree lecturer and was active in the Bethune Eastern Star Chapter 96, Scottish Rite, and Shrine.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Lee Jones McCaskill of McBee; a son, Robert (Dianne) McCaskill of Bethune; a sister, Nell Entwhistle of Bonneau; a brother, Billy McCaskill of McBee; three grandchildren, Manning McCaskill of Bethune, Eugina (Wayne) Tidwell of Cassatt, and Denise (Shane) Fountain of Bethune; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three, brothers Jack McCaskill, Jimmy McCaskill and Bobby McCaskill.

Born in Pageland, Mr. Nicholson was a son of the late Henry John and Mary Alice Wallace Nicholson. He was of the Episcopalian faith. Mr. Nicholson was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and retired from Frye Electric as an electrician.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Billie Jo Nicholson; two stepchildren, Randy W. (Rebecca "Cissie") Pickett of Charlotte, and Darrell W. Pickett of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Mary Blake Knight of Rock Hill, and Patsy Dozier of Charlotte; and two brothers, Herman (Gail) Nicholson of Mint Hill, N.C., and Henry John Nicholson Jr. of Matthews, N.C.
